Predators Take Another Hit as Carrier Sidelined

The Nashville Predators' situation just keeps getting worse as Alexandre Carrier will now be out of the lineup with an upper-body injury and is considered week-to-week.

Carrier was injured in the Predators' previous game against the Ottawa Senators and left in the third period. Nashville is now down Carrier and Jeremy Lauzon on the back-end and Ryan O'Reilly at forward as well.

Lauzon and Carrier were defense partners for the majority of the season, but were recently split because of poor numbers before Lauzon got injured. Now with both of them out, Adam Wilsby, Nick Blankenburg, and Marc Del Gaizo will all have increased roles and should play every night.

An option the Predators have is to recall Spencer Stastney. He has only played two games in the AHL because of personal reasons, but there's a good chance he also stays in the minors for now and gets back up to speed. The last thing the Predators need amidst their losing streak is to bring in someone who isn't at their best as the team can't afford to be anchored down even more.

It remains to be seen when Carrier will be back, but when he does, he has to return to how he played prior to this season. In reality, everybody except Juuse Saros does.

Carrier is in the first of a three-year. $3.75 million AAV deal and has one goal, seven points, and is a -14 on the season through 28 games. Upon returning at a later date, he will retake his spot in the top-4.
