Pre-match programme for first home game against Freiburg
The first Bundesliga home game of the season at the Allianz Arena against Freiburg on Sunday (kick-off 5.30pm CEST) will be packed with entertainment even before the game begins. The highlight will be the honouring of Bayern’s European Cup heroes of 1974, and Harry Kane will also be presented with the top scorer's canon from last season. It's worth taking your seats early, with the pre-match action beginning at 4.45pm.
Tributes before match
After Kane, who was also awarded the Golden Shoe as Europe's top goalscorer during the week, is presented with his Torjägerkanone for 36 Bundesliga goals by kicker magazine and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, the heroes of the club’s first European Cup triumph will be honoured by president Herbert Hainer, Dreesen and vice-chairman Michael Diederich shortly before kick-off.
Harry Kane scored 36 goals in 32 Bundesliga games last season to finish as top scorer by a considerable margin.
From Uli Hoeneß and Sepp Maier to Paul Breitner, Franz ‘Bulle’ Roth, Georg ‘Katsche’ Schwarzenbeck, Bernd Dürnberger and Rainer Zobel, more than 20 club icons have confirmed their attendance. The European Cup and Bundesliga Meisterschale will be carried by grandchildren of the Reds’ heroes, and the song Gute Freunde kann niemand trennen will be played at the start. Heidi Beckenbauer and Hildegard Lattek will receive flowers, while Hoeneß will accept a team photo on behalf of the squad. A meal has been organised inside the stadium beforehand. Everyone will have plenty to talk about before cheering on Manuel Neuer and the current crop of Bayern players.
Documentary: Three Days, Two Games, One Historic Success
To mark the 15th anniversary of the death of Dominik Brunner, who was murdered at Munich-Solln S-Bahn station on 12 September 2009 after he courageously intervened to protect young people from violent attackers, 13 people will once again be honoured for their public bravery before kick-off at the Allianz Arena. Hoeneß, who is FC Bayern’s honorary president and chairman of the board of trustees of the Dominik Brunner Foundation, said: “These people did not look the other way when others were in need but protected people in situations when they were particularly vulnerable through their decisive actions. Their exemplary actions are worthy of being recognised by as many people as possible. They deserve to be honoured at the Allianz Arena, and we hope that their example will encourage us all to look when others need help.”
It was 15 years ago that Hoeneß gave a memorable speech to a packed Allianz Arena on the subject of public bravery and bowed in memory of the deceased Brunner in front of over 70,000 fans.
