One specific club that could be worth watching when it comes to van Riemsdyk is the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Blue Jackets made a big move on Monday, trading star forward Patrik Laine and a 2026 second-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Jordan Harris. With Laine asking for a trade, it is understandable that the Blue Jackets moved him. However, at the same time, they now have lost depth on the wing, and a veteran winger like van Riemsdyk could be good for them to add because of it.

If the Blue Jackets signed van Riemsdyk, he would give their bottom six and power play a nice boost because of his offensive contributions. In addition, he would be a good mentor for the Blue Jackets' younger players, as he has plenty of experience. This could make him a valuable asset for a rising team like Columbus.
Ultimately, with the Blue Jackets needing more help on the wing after trading Laine, it would be understandable if they took a chance on JVR, whether through a professional tryout (PTO) contract or a one-year deal.
