Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has said that the club need to sign new players in the January transfer window to help his injury-ravaged squad.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the midst of an injury crisis with ten players sidelined by injury or illness, while James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are suspended for the first leg of their League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

The Lilywhites have already signed goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky as cover for Guglielmo Vicario and they have been linked with moves for PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani, Manchester City target Abdukodir Khusanov and Johnny Cardoso of Real Betis.

“We’re still trying to help the squad and players,” Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

“We will have roughly 10 first-team players missing. That’s not easy so we need to still try to help the playing group.”

Kinsky is eligible to play for Spurs after completing his transfer from Slavia Prague for around £12.5 million at the weekend and could make his debut against Liverpool.

“He arrived on Sunday, he had a couple of days of training,” said Postecoglou. “He is registered and eligible to play.

“He is one we had earmarked for the summer, end of season to bring in but we have had injuries. I’ve got a decision to make [on Wednesday].”

Meanwhile, Spurs have triggered an option to extend Son Heung-min’s contract for year, keeping him at the club until 2026.

“The main ambition is to make sure he finishes his career here with some silverware,” added Postecoglou.
