Portsmouth midfielder Georgie Freeland has signed a new two-year professional contract with the Barclays Women’s Championship club.

Pompey announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 22-year-old arrived at Fratton Park last summer after leaving Portsmouth’s neighbours Southampton. Freeland scored five goals in 21 league outings for Portsmouth this season whilst playing an important role in the team’s FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title success.

Freeland is an important member of the Portsmouth squad and the club have moved to tie her down on a professional contract ahead of the new season.

After signing on again with Pompey, Freeland said “I’m over the moon to be signing a professional contract at Pompey and I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for this club in the Championship.

“I’m from the area and grew up in the city of Portsmouth, so it means that extra bit more for me.

“I really enjoyed last season and the title win still doesn’t sink in sometimes, but now I’m looking forward to hopefully bringing that momentum when we return for pre-season.”

Freeland joins Hannah Haughton and Riva Casley in signing professional terms with Portsmouth ahead of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
