Portsmouth forward Emma Jones has signed a new two-year professional contract with the club.

Pompey announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Jones has spent the last three years with Portsmouth after joining the club from former Barclays Women’s Championship side Lewes in 2021. She has gone on to lead the Hampshire club’s attack. Jones was Portsmouth’s second-highest goalscorer in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division last season, her 10 goals helped the club to secure the league title.

The player will now be hoping to return to the goal trail at Barclays Women’s Championship level this season.

After retaining Jones’ services on a professional basis, Portsmouth manager Jay Sadler said “Em had her best season with the club last year, she’s a proper centre-forward who contributed to some integral moments for us.

“To secure her for the next two years is massive for us, I know everyone associated to the club is excited to see how she’ll continue progressing now in a full-time environment.”

Jones is the 12th player to have agreed professional terms with Portsmouth this summer. She has joined teammates Hannah Haughton, Riva Casley, Georgie Freeland, Jazz Younger, Sophie Quirk, Emily Pitman, Annie Rolf, Ella Humphrey, Izzy Collins Scarlett Williams and Nicole Barrett in going full-time with Pompey ahead of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
