Poll: Who should be the Miami Herald’s high school football Player of the Week? (Aug. 26)

South Florida’s top football players kicked off the 2024 season in style with great performances last week.

This week, we start a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade and Broward high school football.

Below is a look at the candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Aug. 30, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Corey Pruitt, Miami Palmetto: Pruitt recorded two interceptions to lead the Panthers to a 14-10 win over two-time Class 3M state runner-up Homestead.

Leon Srawder, Miami Northwestern: Strawder threw four touchdown passes on 9 of 14 attempts for 112 yards in the Bulls’ convincing win over Coconut Creek in the Broward County National Football Showcase.

Samari Reed, Monarch: Reed ran for 106 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries and scored a pair of 2-point conversions to lead the Knights to a 30-29 win over Peachtree Ridge in the Broward County National Football Showcase.

J-Roc Lopez, Chaminade: Lopez caught 10 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Lions’ loss to St. John Bosco in the Broward County National Football Showcase.

Brandon Thomas, Carol City: Thomas had 3.5 sacks and eight tackles to lead the Chiefs to a 28-16 win over Haleah.

Amos Bradford, West Broward: Bradford had 200 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to lead the Bobcats to a 57-14 win over South Broward.

Byron Louis, American Heritage: Louis ran for 171 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown, on 19 carries in the Patriots’ 37-28 loss to Milton (Ga.) at the Broward County National Football Showcase.
