Poll: Who should be the Miami Herald’s high school football Player of the Week? (Sept. 2)

South Florida’s top football players continued to deliver great performances last week.

This week, we continue a feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade and Broward high school football.

Below is a look at the candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 5, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Omari McNeil, Blanche Ely: McNeil, a junior quarterback, passed for 381 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for three more scores including the eventual game-winner to lead the Tigers to a win over three-time reigning state champion Chaminade-Madonna.

Willie White, South Dade: White had two of the Bucs’ four interceptions during a 14-7 victory over rival Homestead in the annual “Battle for Lucy Street” game.

Derek Cooper, Chaminade-Madonna: Despite the loss to Ely, Cooper ran for 183 yards on 32 carries and scored four touchdowns.

Dia Bell, American Heritage: Bell threw five touchdown passes in the Patriots’ 51-12 rout of visiting Western.

Ransom Everglades quarterback Neimann Lawrence was voted the Miami Herald’s Miami-Dade Athlete of the Week by the fans after completing 17 of 19 passes for 315 yards and throwing six touchdown passes in a 48-0 win over Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy.
Ransom Everglades quarterback Neimann Lawrence was voted the Miami Herald’s Miami-Dade Athlete of the Week by the fans after completing 17 of 19 passes for 315 yards and throwing six touchdown passes in a 48-0 win over Pembroke Pines Somerset Academy.

Neimann Lawrence, Ransom Everglades: Lawrence completed 22 of 30 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Raiders to a 42-28 win over Westminster Christian.

Robert Kerns, Archbishop McCarthy: Kerns threw five touchdown passes to lead the Mavericks to a 42-6 win over Cypress Bay.
