Police officer tries to stop Bowen Byram from rejoining Avalanche Stanley Cup parade

Defenseman Bowen Byram found the best way to sum up how the Colorado Avalanche players have handled themselves since winning the Stanley Cup on Sunday night in Tampa Bay.

“The last four days, I don’t remember much,” Byram told reporters at Civic Center Park on Thursday, according to The Athletic.

It sounds unfortunate that the 21-year-old blueliner might not remember all of his first Stanley Cup parade, but it might be a blessing in disguise seeing that Byram found himself in a sticky situation.

Byram left the truck float to take pictures with fans, sign autographs and share some drinks. As he attempted to get back close to the trucks to reunite with his teammates, he was halted by a police officer who mistook him for a regular fan that was trying to get too close to the players. The policeman gently pushed Byram back into the crowd, trying to kick him out of his own Stanley Cup parade.

Despite his inebriated state, Byram finally managed to explain to the officer that he was part of the team and was allowed back on the truck.

This was not the only humorous moment Byram was a part of during the Stanley Cup parade. When the team got to Civic Center Park for the grand celebration, Byram accidentally came out to the crowd after the announcer called teammate Erik Johnson’s name during the player introductions.

The young defenseman went with it and probably won’t remember this moment either…

Byram deserves to let loose after a season in which he battled injury adversity, missing nearly three months of action. He returned to the lineup on April 5, then registered eight points in the postseason, including an assist on the first goal of the final game on Sunday, feeding a cross-ice pass to teammate Nathan MacKinnon.
