Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski refused to hide his excitement following a dramatic 1-0 UEFA Champions League win against Arsenal.

Speaking to Prime after the game, as reported by FCInterNews, the Poland international underlined his team’s strength after another memorable European night.

Simone Inzaghi handed Zielinski his third Champions League start this season at the expense of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Despite struggling with match fitness in the early stage of the campaign, the 30-year-old seems to be finding his footing at Inter.

Indeed, tonight’s clash affirmed Zielinski’s reputation as one of Europe’s finest midfielders.

Coping with Arsenal’s technically gifted midfield line was a Herculean task, but the ex-Napoli ace didn’t cease to amaze.

Though he only lasted on the pitch for 62 minutes, his dynamism on the ball helped the Inter team tick over in tumultuous times.

“It was not a simple match, we knew that. Arsenal put us in difficulty,” Zielinski said after the game.

“But what matters is the result, even when suffering.”

Zielinski has excelled in the ‘mezzala’ role under Inzaghi.

“Yes, I feel great there because it’s my natural role.

“Then if there’s an emergency, I play wherever the coach puts me, giving my best.

“We thought we’d be at this point with these points, we know our strength.

“The points say we are great and need to keep going like this,” he added.

Zielinski’s physical condition has been a source of great concern this season.

However, the Polish star has put his fitness problems firmly behind him.

“Now I’m fine, I play more,” he stated.

“It’s normal, I had two injuries that affected me. Now I’m giving my best for the team, I’m doing well.”

After another massive European result, Inter will take on Napoli next weekend in a monumental Serie A fixture.
