Poland EURO 2024 Star Fit & Back For Inter Milan Vs Lecce Serie A Clash
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi has received a huge fitness boost ahead of the Lecce game as Piotr Zielinski returns to training from injury.
According to Sky Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the Poland international resumed training on Tuesday after two weeks on the sidelines.
Zielinski joined Inter from Napoli in July after his contract at the Diego Maradona Stadium ran out.
With Poland exiting EURO 2024 in the group stages, the 30-year-old immediately joined the pre-season camp.
Alongside Zielinski, Mehdi Taremi was also an influential member of Inzaghi’s off-season squad.
However, both players succumbed to injuries during the warm-up period.
While Taremi recovered in time for the opening-day Serie A encounter against Genoa, Zielinski skipped last weekend’s trip to the Marassi.
Considering Inter’s midfield stuttered against Alberto Gilardino’s stubborn defensive approach, the Pole’s recovery is well-timed.
The reigning Scudetto holders slipped to a 2-2 draw against Genoa last Saturday.
Among the weakest performers at Stadio Luigi Ferraris were Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Therefore, there’s a chance Zielinski could dislodge the Armenian from the starting line-up against Lecce.
Inter Milan Summer Addition Piotr Zielinski Returns From Injury In Time to Face Lecce
The former Napoli star could make his debut this Saturday.
Lecce will touch down at Giuseppe Meazza, keen to make amends for a catastrophic 4-0 home loss to Atalanta on Monday.
That same scoreline decided the last Serie A game between the Giallorossi and Inter in February.
Inter came out on top, unsurprisingly. Inzaghi’s charges will seek a repeat after getting their Scudetto defense off to a dismal start.
Piotr Zielinski could be a catalyst to reinvigorate the champions.
The versatile midfielder fared reasonably well during Inter’s pre-season before suffering a muscle injury against Pisa.
And there’s no doubt he’ll be eager to impress in his first appearance at Meazza as the Nerazzurri player.
