A journalist has claimed that Theo Hernandez is wanting to leave AC Milan in the summer and will not consider extending his contract.

According to Christopher Michel of Sport1 and FussballNews, Theo Hernandez ‘is planning his departure from Milan in the summer’. He ‘does not want to extend his contract’, which expires in 2026.

There have already been talks with FC Bayern Munich in the past, he adds, and what will be important regarding a future move is whether Alphonso Davies stays. As a reminder, the Canadian is on an expiring deal, and has been linked with Real Madrid.

The article published adds: “Will the change of coach from Paulo Foncesca lead to a rethink? That is questionable.” The 36-time French international has a market value of around €50m, and Milan are aware of the damage that losing him on a free would do.

It must be noted that Theo’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon spoke while exiting Casa Milan following a meeting with the directors on 16 December, and afterwards he confirmed that his client intends to stay at Milan and renew his contract.

There has been talk of him signing a new contract worth €5m net per year or more, though if Michel is to be believed any attempts to get a renewal will be futile.
