Penguins' Tristan Jarry breaks franchise record for longest shutout streak
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry has barely started his NHL career and is already breaking records.
The 24-year-old netminder has 40 NHL appearances under his belt, but that was enough to get his name inked into the franchise record books.
Over the course of four games, Jarry held a shutout streak of 177 minutes and 15 seconds — making it the longest amount of time a Penguins goaltender has gone without allowing a goal against.
Tristan Jarry’s shutout streak, which was snapped at 177:15, is a new franchise record. He surpassed Tomas Vokoun's streak of 173:06 established from Mar. 22-Apr. 2, 2013. #LetsGoPens pic.twitter.com/ChjcKrGAcB

A goal coming from Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Tatar during the second period of Tuesday’s matchup between the two clubs was the finishing blow to end the streak.
During Jarry’s unstoppable reign, he was able to shutout the St. Louis Blues and Arizona Coyotes, making a total of 61 saves throughout the two contests.
The record that Jarry beat was Tomas Vokoun’s 2013 shutout streak, where he was able to have three consecutive shutout appearances — one in relief.
Through 11 appearances and nine starts, Jarry has a league-leading .943 save percentage and 1.81 goals against average.
If he’s able to keep up this kind of performance, the Penguins might just have another goaltending mainstay in their midst.
