Photos: Rookie Face-off - Kraken vs Avs
The Seattle Kraken rookies made their debut at the NHL Rookie Face-off tournament in El Segundo, CA. Their first game against the Colorado Avalanche rookies started slowly and was 0-0 after the first period.
Second Period- The Kraken youths came back with a fire in their belly. Jacon Melanson scored the game’s first goal on a powerplay just 1:22 into the period assisted by Julius Miettinen and David Goyette.

The second goal was scored by Logan Morrison after a pass from Jagger Firkus and Tyson Jugnauth four minutes into the period. Jakub Fibigr shot one past Colorado's goalie Jake Barczenski with assists from Melanson and Nathan Villeneuve making it 3-0 Seattle. Andrei Loshko from Eduard Sale from Lukas Dragicevic scored the Kraken's 4th goal giving a commanding lead over the Avs.
Third Period - Colorado broke the shutout with a late goal by Jason Polin, but failed to tighten the gap. Seattle's Jani Nyman would score on an empty-net goal, making it 5-1 Final.

Coach Derek Laxdal spoke highly about goalie, Niklas Kokko, in post game interviews “Kokko was outstanding,” said Laxdal. “He made the big save when he needed to and kept the game at 0-0 for us.”
Seattle faces off against the Vegas rookies at 1 p.m. The Kraken's Berkly Catton and Ty Nelson are expected to join the lineup.
