Philadelphia Phillies pitcher shines in MLB debut in front of his very emotional father
Hope you brought some tissues.
There's something truly special about a proud dad getting the chance to watch his son make his debut in the top league of any professional sport. Regardless of how the game goes, it feels impossible not to cheer for a young rookie with his family in the stands.
In the case of Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering, that first MLB appearance went very well while he had a very proud father watching from the stands.
Kerkering made his MLB debut on Sunday night against the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. He entered the game in the eighth inning as a relief pitcher.
