Xander Schauffele — who tied (his own) major record with a 9-under 62 in Round 1, which was the lowest score in PGA Championship history — will tee off in the afternoon wave. He entered the day with a three-shot lead, though that quickly disappeared after Collin Morikawa made a ridiculous five straight birdies on his back nine to get to briefly 12-under on the day. He posted a 6-under 65, which gave him a two-shot lead when he hit the clubhouse. Schauffele, however, quickly retook the lead by the time he made the turn in his round. He'll enter the weekend at 12-under.
Tiger Woods, however, struggled on Friday. He fell down the leaderboard early after a pair of triple bogeys, and ended up missing the cut.
That's it for Round 2. Play has been suspended due to darkness with a couple dozen players still on the course.
Tiger gets an ovation
It was a foregone conclusion for most of the the second round that Tiger Woods would miss the cut at the PGA. A couple of triples in his first four holes sealed that deal. So when he holed out for birdie on 18, he smiled a big smile and walked off to an encouraging gallery. Plus-seven sends him home.
If there's a positive, it's this: after those doubles, he was 1-under over his final 14 holes.
Next time we see him will likely be in June at Pinehurst.

For a brief moment, Will Zalatoris said there was a group of players who wanted to postpone Friday's round at Valhalla.
"At one point there were a group of guys in the locker room talking about going to the PGA of America about it, but I think it was dead in the water in the locker room. It was bizarre."

Tiger is holding steady at 7-over on the day with four holes left. He's going to miss the cut, which is currently projected at 1-under.
Tiger is going to miss a cut for the 24th time worldwide in what is nearly 28 years as a pro. It will be his 13th missed cut in a major.. 9 of those MCs in majors will have occurred in the last 10 years.
Schauffele missed a short putt for par at 11, a rare mistake for him in his first two rounds. The lead is back to just one.
Xander not done
Another hole, another birdie for Xander Schauffele. He's got it to 13-under, two strokes clear, after a birdie at 10. He may not shoot 62 today, but he going low again.
Schauffele back to the lead
It took him nine holes, but Xander Schauffele has taken the lead back from Collin Morikawa. With a birdie on 7, Schauffele got to 11-under, to tie Morikawa. Another birdie at No. 9 and just like that, the man who shot a 62 on Thursday is to 12-under, 3-under on his round Friday.
What about the cutline?
1-under, that's where it's projected right now. Here are some of those in danger of (or definitely) missing the weekend:
(* Denotes still on the course)
- Jon Rahm (E)
- Matt Fitzpatrick (E)
- Jordan Spieth (E)*
- Dustin Johnson (+2)*
- Wyndham Clark (+4)
- Phil Mickelson (+4)
- Tiger Woods (+6)*
- Michael Block (+8)*
Tiger nearly holes it
It hasn't been a good day for Tiger Woods, who is on his way to missing the cut. But he did have this moment at No. 8:

Even with birdies on Nos. 7 and 8, Woods is still 6-over no thanks to a pair of triple bogeys. The cut line is projected to be 1-under, so it's doubtful he'll be playing tomorrow.
Brooks Koepka!
The defending champ started his second round with a bogey, then birdied the second and, well, drained a 58-footer for birdie at the third. At 5-under, he has himself in the mix.
Scottie Scheffler warmed up in his jail cell
True story. After his round, Scheffler provided some details of his arrest:
- He stretched in his jail cell, hoping he'd make it to the course in time.
- He found out starting times had been delayed by watching a TV tuned to ESPN from his cell, then he started doing some math.
- He never name dropped.
- Officers offered him a sandwich while in jail.
- He never considered not playing.
- He said he was shaking for over an hour.
And he had this to say about his round: "I would say it was pretty good. "I definitely never imagined going to jail and I definitely never imagined going to jail the morning before one of my tee times."

Viktor Hovland one-hops it in for an eagle! He's now at 5-under after this wild chip at No. 4.

Scottie Scheffler's 66 after his arrest
Despite his chaotic morning, Scottie Scheffler is still right in the mix. He posted a 5-under 66, which pushed him to 9-under on the week. That's two back from Collin Morikawa in the lead.

Well, Tiger Woods may not make the weekend. Woods made a triple bogey on the second hole, which dropped him back to 4-over on the week. It marked his first triple bogey in 1,441 career holes at the PGA Championship.
The projected cut is still at E.

Collin Morikawa finishes in the lead
Collin Morikawa bogeyed the 9th, which drops him to 11-under on the week. That's still good for a two-shot lead as he enters the clubhouse.
Tiger Woods' group is off and running at Valhalla. Woods is starting the day at 1-over, which is just outside the projected cutline.
Xander Schauffele is off ...
When he woke up, Xander Schauffele had a three-shot lead. When he teed off just a minute ago, he trailed Colin Morikawa by three strokes. Time to play catch up.
Slam dunk
Emiliano Grillo isn't have the tournament he'd hoped for — he was +3 going to 13 — but this will do:
Make it five straight birdies for Collin Morikawa, after converting a short 5-footer on No. 8 (his 17th hole). Morikawa has gone from two back to a two-shot lead. Birdie x 5 will do that.
Who is Mark Hubbard?
Most know leader Collin Morikawa. But who's "Hubbard," who's now 10-under and in second place? Well, it's Mark Hubbard, world No. 81. Hubbard, 34, turned pro in 2012. While he has a win on the Korn Ferry Tour, he's never won on the main stage. This is just his fourth major tournament. His best finish: T51 at the 2020 PGA Championship. Safe to say, he's setting himself up for the biggest payday of his career.

Scottie Scheffler's legal battle
Scottie Scheffler, attorneys say, almost certainly won't face any felony charges after his arrest on Friday morning.

Collin Morikawa, solo leader
That's another birdie for Collin Morikawa, and he's now in the solo lead at 10-under. That's his third straight birdie on his back nine.
And now Collin Morikawa is getting in on the action at the top. He's made back-to-back birdies on his back nine to join Mark Hubbard and Xander Schauffele in the lead at 9-under.

Scottie Scheffler bounces back with another birdie
