Peterborough Petes Forwards Commit to NCAA School
Overage forwards Gavin Bryant and Jonathan Melee have committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Sacred Heart University next season. The pair bring a combined 403 games of OHL experience.
The Owen Sound Attack drafted Bryant with their second-round pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The Ingersoll Ont. native spent two years in Owen Sound before being traded to Niagara.
He then spent a year with the IceDogs before being moved to the Peterborough Petes. Bryant has scored eight goals and added 10 assists in 31 games for Peterborough this season.
In 186 OHL games, Bryant has scored a total of 136 points giving him an average of .73 points per game during his OHL career.
Some of the things Bryant is most known for is his work in the community and his leadership qualities.
In both Peterborough and Niagara Bryant's initiative Gav's Corner has worked to bring children with diabetes to hockey games. He started the initiative after his sister was diagnosed with the condition years before.

The Hamilton Bulldogs drafted Melee with their second-round pick in the 2020 OHL Priority.
Melee, who hails from Fredericton New Brunswick played a year with Hamilton before being traded to Peterborough. As a member of the Petes, Melee won an OHL Championship during the 2022-23 season.
In 43 games this season Melee has 16 goals and seven assists. In 217 OHL games, he has a total of 113 points meaning he has averaged .52 points per game during his career.
The tandem of overage forwards now have the opportunity to continue their hockey careers while working towards a university degree.
