“Perfect signing” – Teddy Sheringham urges Man Utd to pursue £150M devastating EPL striker
Teddy Sheringham would love to see Manchester United try to sign Newcastle United bomber Alexander Isak.
The Red Devils have been lacking a top-notch striker for a while. Their current attacking ranks feature Rasmus Hojlund who hasn’t been consistent in front of goal, struggling summer signing Joshua Zirkzee, and Marcus Rashford whose troubles at Carrington are well-documented.
Therefore, the Premier League giants have been linked with several prolic centre-forwards, including Ruben Amorim’s old Sporting CP pupil Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli-owned star Victor Osimhen.
But instead of pursuing foreign profiles, Sheringham believes Man Utd should chase a striker who has already taken the Premier League by storm this season.
Since the start of the season, Isak has been devastating in front of goal. He has now found the back of the net in his last seven appearances, including Newcastle’s 2-0 victory in Old Trafford, taking his Premier League tally to 13 goals and four assists in 18 EPL appearances.
Teddy Sheringham pinpoints Alexander Isak as the perfect signing for Man Utd
Moreover, Sheringham believes the Red Devils still have the lure to draw top players, despite their recent woes.
“Manchester United is still a massive draw for any player and playing for the club is still a highlight of anyone’s career,” said the 1999 Champions League hero in his interview with BoyleSports (via the Sun).
“Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt. I’m not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.
“He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example.”
However, the Magpies have reportedly slapped a £150-million price tag on the back of the 25-year-old Swede, so Man Utd might have to resort to cheaper alternatives.
