Pep Guardiola confirms availability of his three new signings for Manchester City against Chelsea
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the status of the club’s three new signings ahead of their clash with Chelsea this weekend.
The Premier League champions have had yet another quick turnaround between matches this week as they take on the challenge of Enzo Maresca’s side off the back of a difficult night in the French capital on Wednesday.
Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland may have thought they had set Manchester City on their way to a huge win against Paris Saint-Germain, only for a flurry of strikes from Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, and Goncalo Ramos to flip the game on its head.
Last time out in the Premier League however it was goalscoring heaven for the reigning champions of the top-flight, as they put six strikes past Ipswich Town without reply on the road to give themselves plenty of hope of an encouraging end to a difficult season.
Since then, City have welcomed three new arrivals into their playing squad as a clear reflection of the struggles that have hampered Pep Guardiola’s side throughout the side, with new additions made in defence and attacking areas of the pitch.
Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference from the City Football Academy on Friday afternoon, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that all of Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Omar Marmoush will be in the matchday squad against Chelsea this weekend.
Guardiola insisted the reasoning behind their immediate inclusion was due to the fact that “we don’t have players.”
Discussing each of his three new arrivals into the Manchester City squad, Guardiola explained, “Vitor [Reis] is young, he has a huge personality, needs time.
“[Abdukodir] Khusanov has already settled for the fact that he played in the French league, handling tough, tough, quick, fast players. But of course, he doesn’t speak much English, not French. So communication will be one of the situations that we have to deal with.
“And Omar [Marmoush], I think he will adapt quick,” said the 54-year-old head coach.
