Abdul Carter knows the power of the dark side. The Force is strong with him.

That’s apparent after the Penn State edge rusher once again leaned into his Star Wars fandom.

After exiting the Nittany Lions’ win in the Fiesta Bowl with an undisclosed injury, Carter shared a photo on his social media accounts of Darth Vader recovering in a bacta tank, leading his fans to believe that he would be ready for a College Football Playoff clash with Notre Dame in the semifinals. A few days later, Carter shared videos on his X account from the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries of Vader emerging from the tank, having his gear assembled on him, ready to wreak havoc on the universe.

When Carter took the field against the Fighting Irish in the Orange Bowl, he was wearing black tape under his eyes and across the bridge of his nose, with writing that simply said: “DARTH VADER.”

It might be fair for us to describe Carter the way Kenobi once described Vader: “He’s more machine now than man.” Carter led the Big Ten in sacks and tackles-for-losses this season and has been an absolute wrecking ball for the Nittany Lions.

Should Penn State win and advance to the national championship game, Carter will have been a big reason why.

Unless, of course, Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard has the high ground.
