As the Pittsburgh Penguins get one member of their blue line back, they’ll be without one of their forwards for a few weeks.

Matt Cullen is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks after taking a shot off his right skate during Monday night’s wild win over the Washington Capitals. The 40-year-old center, who has 8 goals and 17 points in 43 games, hasn’t missed an NHL game since the 2014-15 season

Like Kris Letang, who is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, Cullen is a key special teamer for the Penguins leading their forwards in shorthanded ice time (2:30) per game. This means that Eric Fehr, who GM Jim Rutherford signed because of his versatility, will move to center.

Meanwhile, defenseman Brian Dumoulin, who’s been out with a broken jaw since the end of December, will travel with the Penguins on their upcoming two-game road trip to Montreal and Carolina despite still not being medically cleared. He skated with the team on Tuesday and head coach Mike Sullivan said he is inching closer to a return.
