Paul Joyce: Liverpool Midfielder on Brink of Bundesliga Switch
Bayer Leverkusen Makes Move for Liverpool’s Tyler Morton
Liverpool’s young talent, Tyler Morton, seems poised for a summer departure from Anfield, with renewed interest coming from the Bundesliga. Despite being highly rated at Liverpool, the 22-year-old midfielder has yet to secure a permanent spot in the first team. Now, a fresh offer from German champions Bayer Leverkusen could see him make the switch to Germany on loan.
Tyler Morton’s Journey So Far
Morton made his debut for Liverpool in 2021 during an EFL Cup match against Norwich City, showcasing his potential early on. However, the young Englishman has struggled to break into the Liverpool first team, leading to loan spells at various Championship clubs. His time at Hull City during the 2023/24 season was particularly noteworthy. Morton made 39 appearances, becoming a key player and contributing goals and assists. This success earned him his first call-up to the England U21 squad, highlighting his growing reputation.

Bundesliga Clubs Circling
Earlier this summer, RB Leipzig was linked with a move for Morton, recognising his potential after his strong performances in the Championship. However, they weren’t the only German side interested in the Liverpool starlet. According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Bayer Leverkusen have now stepped up with an offer to take Morton on loan for the upcoming season.
Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, is reportedly keen on adding the England U21 international to his squad as they aim to defend their Bundesliga title and compete in the Champions League. Alonso’s connection to Liverpool might also play a role in their pursuit of Morton.
Leverkusen’s Transfer Strategy
Bayer Leverkusen has been active in the transfer market this summer, showing a particular interest in Liverpool players. They previously attempted to sign Sepp van den Berg but missed out, with the Dutch defender ultimately joining Brentford. Now, the focus has shifted to Tyler Morton, and Leverkusen will be hoping for a smoother process this time around.
With several clubs vying for Morton’s signature, Bayer Leverkusen will need to act quickly if they are to secure the services of the promising midfielder. As the transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see where Tyler Morton lands next season.
