Patrik Laine out indefinitely with concussion
Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine suffered a concussion off a big hit from Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jake McCabe in their Saturday game, coach Paul Maurice announced Sunday.
There is currently no timetable for the 18-year-old’s return according to Maurice.

The play occurred at the 5:38 mark of the third period of the game at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, an eventual 4-3 Sabres win. Laine had just received a pass in the middle of the ice when McCabe stepped up and delivered hit.
After the play, a brawl ensued between the two teams with forward Mark Scheifele going after McCabe.
Laine was video’d leaving the after the game, wearing a suit and not appearing to have any trouble walking to the Jets team bus. His 21 goals this season are tied for the rookie lead with Auston Matthews and rank third in the NHL behind Sidney Crosby and Jeff Carter.

After the game, Maurice said that he “didn’t have a problem with the hit. They hit heads. It was a straight-on hit.”
Said Jets forward Drew Stafford, “It’s not good anytime you see a guy in that kind of a position on the ice. I’ve been there before, it’s not a good feeling. Like I said, I don’t want to comment on the hit. It’s not my place, but I hope (Laine) is OK. It’s just unfortunate.”
