Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones trade fun barbs before Chiefs training camp opens

The first day of Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph is on Tuesday, but like the rest of the NFL, not everyone reports immediately.

Rookies and quarterbacks will be the first to arrive at Missouri Western. The veterans don’t have to be there until Saturday.

Before camp even opened a pair of Chiefs stars traded playful barbs on social media about training camp.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones wrote Sunday on X: “I’m ready for training camp,” and that message had been liked more than 7,000 times.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes responded to Jones’ sentiment by writing: “You won’t come Tuesday….” and later added laughing emojis.

Jones had a perfect retort.

“Pat I love you but Andy told me that’s the day for Qb’s and rookies. I gotta respect the process,” Jones wrote.

Even Mahomes liked that.

Judging by that exchange, the Chiefs players are going to have a great time reuniting at camp.
