Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs teammates embrace villain role with pre-game ‘men in black’ fits
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes arrived for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game in Kansas City dressed all in black.
Sending a message?
Over the last few days fans elsewhere have vilified Mahomes for the perception that he tries to draw penalties.
So maybe some thought went into the black Prada sweatshirt, dark pants, black sunglasses and somber game face he wore to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for another playoff meeting with the Buffalo Bills.
And he wasn’t the only one dressed in serious black upon arrival at Sunday’s game to send one team to the Feb. 9 Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid arrived in a black quilted jacket.

Like Mahomes, KC cornerback Trent McDuffie wore black Prada — a nylon triangle logo shirt ($2,590).
Chiefs wide receiver Nikko Remigio wore a black logo sweatshirt from Saga Studio, a brand that blends boho streetwear and urban tech.
The flashiest part of defensive end Charles Omenihu’s fit — he also wore a black jacket, leather with stud detailing — was a huge diamond pendant of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.
Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins wore a deconstructed denim jacket.
Cornerback Jaylen Watson lightened the mood with graffiti flowers — on his White Mood Hoodie ($200) and coordinating sweatpants.
Tight end Travis Kelce missed the “wear black” memo, showing up in a three-piece beige suit.
