Patrick Dorgu’s family is reportedly in Salento to push for a move to Manchester United amid Lecce’s reluctance to part ways with their star man.

Lecce have endured a tough season in Italy’s top flight, as they sit 17th in the Serie A table, just a point above the relegation zone. However, Dorgu, who moved to Lecce from Nordsjælland in 2022, has been a real bright spot for them.

The Dane, regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Italy at the moment, has been a key player for the Giallorossi, delivering impressive performances as a left-back, left wing-back, left-winger, right-winger, and right-back.

His versatility, pace, and impeccable positional awareness have made him one of the first names on Marco Giampaolo’s teamsheet. The 20-year-old has made 23 appearances across all competitions and boasts three goals and an assist.

Dorgu’s form has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including United, who have already seen their bid for the player turned down.

Lecce are playing hardball over their valuation, as they aren’t too keen on losing one of their most important players in the midst of a relegation battle.

However, it appears Dorgu’s camp is determined to see him at the Theatre of Dreams.

According to SoloLecce (via Sport Witness), the youngster’s “entire family” has been in Salento since Thursday. It is underlined that this isn’t the norm for him.

Further, it is believed that the player’s parents are pushing for the move which would be “life changing” for Dorgu.

His arrival could prove to be game changing for Ruben Amorim, who is crying for a quality left wing-back, with his current options, including Tyrell Malacia, failing to step up.

The Portuguese’s 3-4-3 system relies heavily on wing-backs to create width and make a difference in the final third.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United remain in talks with Lecce as they are working on lodging an improved bid for their priority transfer target. It is added that Dorgu has already agreed “terms” to move to Old Trafford.
