Paso Robles police arrest second suspect in connection to robbery at apartment complex

A second suspect has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a Paso Robles apartment complex, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

On May 15, police responded to an incident at the Dry Creek Apartment complex.

“A caller reported two men forced a family at gunpoint into an apartment and robbed them of personal belongings,” police said in a news release. “Police raced to the scene, but both suspects fled prior to our arrival.”

The two suspects involved, police said, were 19-year-old Angel Chavez and 33-year-old Leonel Sanchez from Paso Robles.

Police allegedly obtained surveillance footage of Chavez using a credit card belonging to one of the victims.

Two days later, officers arrested Chavez near 28th and Park Street on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, burglary and conspiracy, police said.

Police found Sanchez in Rohnert Park on Friday and arrested him on suspicion of charges including kidnapping, robbery and driving under the influence of intoxicants, the release said.

Sanchez was being held Sunday at San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $290,000 bail, while Chavez remained in jail custody in lieu of $302,000 bail.
