Manchester United’s next port of call is trying to add a midfielder with Erik ten Hag preferring a move for Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 side’s excessive demands meant a move never materialised but with PSG eyeing Jadon Sancho, United expect to use that interest as leverage in a bid to re-open talks for the Uruguayan.

The Parisian outfit want the England international on an initial loan with an obligation to buy and that could see Ugarte heading in the opposite direction in a similar deal.

Despite mending fences with the manager, United remain open to moving on the former Borussia Dortmund star who had agreed personal terms with the French outfit a while back.

PSG-Sancho talks

Both clubs have been in talks and as per The Independent, Luis Enrique’s team also broached the topic of Marcus Rashford’s sale with the Red Devils.

Before Sancho, it was the Mancunian who was PSG’s preferred choice to come in as replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who left to join Real Madrid this summer.

The report mentions that the England international has informed the French club of his desire to stay put while the 20-time English league champions still believe in the boyhood United fan.

“Jadon Sancho could join Paris Saint-Germain on a loan with an obligation to buy after negotiations between the French club and Manchester United.

“The two clubs are attempting to unlock a deal that could also see midfielder Manuel Ugarte move in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.

“Talks have been ongoing for weeks, and it is understood that even Marcus Rashford has been raised, due to the French club’s long-standing interest.

Rashford also discussed

“Rashford had a difficult year at Old Trafford and did come up in talks, but he wants to knuckle down at his boyhood club, with United still seeing him as a totem of the club as a youth graduate.”

The United academy graduate endured a dismal campaign last term and his form does not seem to have picked up in the new season as he squandered a few glorious chances against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

He had spoken to the French club back when he had one year left in his United contract before eventually signing a lucrative new deal and it seems they are set to face disappointment again.

But if they manage to land Sancho, it would be a major coup and it could work out well for United as they could land Ugarte without breaking Profit and Sustainability rules.
