Paris Saint-Germain are “close to agreeing personal terms” with Jadon Sancho over a move to the French capital and plan to “hold talks” with Manchester United later this week over the potential transfer.

Writing in ‘Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing’, Mark Brus reveals the Ligue 1 champions hold a strong interest in the 24-year-old winger as they seek to find a suitable replacement for the recently departed Kylian Mbappe.

PSG’s manager, Luis Enrique, is reported to be “keen” on Sancho having watched the Englishman produce a fantastic performance against his side in last season’s Champions League semi-final clash, while on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The Daily Briefing contends “positive talks” have taken place between PSG officials and Sancho’s representatives but that it “remains to be seen” whether the French club will be able to produce an offer sufficient to convince United to sell.

This confirms a report relayed by The Peoples Person earlier this morning of a contract offer being extended to Sancho by the Parisian club which the 24-year-old was “about to say yes” to.

Erik ten Hag and Sancho reached a resolution earlier this month over their long-standing dispute, which extended all the way back to September last year. Ten Hag revealed the pair had “drawn the line” following a “positive” meeting at Carrington and that Sancho would be available for selection moving forward.

The 24-year-old started from the left-wing in United’s pre-season game against Rangers on Saturday and Brus reveals the club would “prefer not to sell Sancho this summer”. The poor form of Marcus Rashford last year, and the continued doubts over Antony as a player capable of performing at this level, mean a versatile winger such as Sancho could be an important asset for Ten Hag’s squad this season.

However, Brus writes the club would be willing to entertain offers “in the region of €50-60m” (£42-£50m). PSG are believed to be preparing an opening offer in the region  €40 million, which is likely to be rejected, but “might do something to kick-start negotiations.”

Officials from both clubs will already be familiar with each-other at this stage of the summer window as United have been locked in negotiations over a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The French club are thought to be asking for a fee as high as €70 million for the combative midfielder – a price likely to be far outside United’s willingness. There is optimism a compromise can be reached, however, as PSG are keen to add Joao Neves – the Benfica starlet who United themselves were linked to earlier in the window – and will need a space in Enrique’s midfield unit to do so.

Furthermore, another potential link between the two clubs comes in the form of Xavi Simons – the talented Dutch midfielder who impressed for RB Leipzig last season. The 21-year-old is a PSG player but has spent the last two years on loan (Leipzig and PSV Eindhoven) and is expected to seal a permanent move away from Paris this summer.

United hold a long-standing interested in Simons, having reportedly tabled a 50 million offer last summer. A report covered by The Peoples Person contends the Red Devils have reignited their pursuit and have been “working on an arrival” of the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

With United appear to hold serious interest in two PSG midfielders, but struggling to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations without first selling, and the Parisian club actively pursuing Sancho, a swap deal or a part-exchange offer may be the perfect solution for both parties.
