Paris Saint-German have reached an “agreement in principle” with Jadon Sancho over a move to the French capital with Manchester United holding out for a fee of €60 million for the winger – higher than previously expected.

Sports Zone, a French media outlet, reveals the Ligue 1 champions have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old Englishman, but that he is “not the priority option” for them.

Tweet: “Agreement in principle between Jadon Sancho and Paris Saint-Germain. English is not the priority option and Paris favours other avenues. Manchester United wants 60M €.”

Instead, PSG officials are described as “favour[ing] other avenues” with the links to Rafael Leão (AC Milan) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli) as they seek to find a replacement for the recently departed Kylian Mbappe.

Both of these targets are expected to prove extremely difficult to prise from their respective Serie A clubs, however, with PSG also thought to be interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The possibility of being able to make two major signings from the same team in the same window feels a remote one, while AC Milan are keen to keep Leão at the San Siro.

Another player the French champions are believed to be interested in is Nico Williams, the electric winger who lit up EURO 2024 as he helped Spain to a well-deserved victory over England in the final in Germany.

However, Williams appears to only have eyes for Barcelona who are leading the race to sign the 22-year-old from Athletic Club.

It makes sense, therefore, why PSG have pursued a deal for Sancho as a backup option to their primary targets, given United are thought to be open to selling the former Borussia Dortmund man, but only at the right price.

Sancho was banished from the first-team at Old Trafford following a dispute with Erik ten Hag over his application in training. The winger returned to Dortmund on loan in January, delivering a number of impressive performances as helped the German side reach an unlikely Champions League final at Wembley.

Dortmund were keen for Sancho to remain at the Signal Iduna Park beyond his loan but were unable to match United’s asking price and the 24-year-old returned to Old Trafford.

Along with members of United’s executive branch, a meeting was held with Sancho and Ten Hag to clear the air and enable a route back into the fold under the Dutchman. It was a success with Sancho returning to the first-team with immediate effect and Ten Hag declaring a line had been drawn under the affair.

Sources privy to United’s pre-season tour describe Sancho as having “fitted back in like he has never been away”, portraying a happy player with a good sense of humour who is well-liked by his teammates and is a “positive influence”.

The club and coaching staff are believed to be planning to go into next season with Sancho in the squad as depth remains an issue in the forward positions. The 24-year-old’s versatility is likely to be particularly appealing to Ten Hag given the number of games United will have to contend with this year.

It would take, therefore, a considerable bid – Sports Zone believe as high as £50 million – for United to sanction his departure to PSG. And with the Ligue 1 club seeming to prioritise other players before settling on Sancho as a definite option, the fact the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms over a move to the French capital does not mean a transfer is imminent.

This remains one to put in the ‘Keep An Eye On’ category rather than the ‘Here We Go’ column.
