Paralympics-themed Google Doodle celebrates wheelchair basketball

Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Friday's Paralympics-themed Google Doodle celebrates the sport of wheelchair basketball.

Set on the streets of Paris, the animated artwork shows one bird in a wheelchair shooting a basketball into a garbage can, while another one pops out of the can looking surprised.

"The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation and Paris 2024 have revealed the competition schedule for wheelchair basketball at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, set to take place from 29 August to 8 September," the International Paralympic Committee's website said.

"The competitions will be held at the Bercy Arena, located in the heart of Paris. Eight men's and eight women's national teams will compete for the highly coveted Paralympic medals."
