Panthers take younger squad to Central Florida for preseason battle against Tampa Bay

The Florida Panthers will put their unblemished exhibition record to the test on Wednesday when they hit the road for their first road contest of the preseason.

It’ll be a quick trip for the Cats as they head up to Orlando for a neutral site matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

They’ll face off at the Kia Center, home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic, for the second September in a row.

The Cats will hold a morning skate in Fort Lauderdale before part of the team’s training camp roster heads to the airport for the brief flight to Central Florida.

While we don’t know yet the exact makeup of the roster Florida will bring up to Orlando, Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice did indicate on Wednesday that the majority of who plays will have been in the second practice group that day.

Below you’ll find which players skated in that group, and the lines they worked on, but things could look very different against the Bolts.

Also keep in mind that Maurice said he would possibly bring a couple players from the first practice group, which featured mostly veterans, to play in Orlando.

As for the goaltenders, Maurice did not say which goalie was starting on Wednesday.

All we know is that there won’t be any more 50/50 time shares in games. Whoever starts against Tampa will either play two full periods or the entire game.
