Cole Palmer has continued where he left off last season with his impressive start to the campaign and is the best midfielder in the league in one area.

The 22-year-old has been nothing short a revelation since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth ÂŁ42.5m.

Palmer scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his breakout season under Mauricio Pochettino which saw him named Premier League Young Player of the Year and scoop numerous other awards.

The England international has come under increased attention from opposition defenders with teams often man marking and double up on him to try and minimise his influence.

Despite this Palmer still has 12 goals and six assists in 19 league games this season, with Enzo Maresca stating he’s very proud to work with the Englishman.

Palmer is still very much Chelsea’s main man even though Maresca has insisted Chelsea are no longer reliant on the former City man.

His rise has been meteoric in such a short space of time and he’s already established himself as one of the best players not only in the league but in the world.

Maresca feels Palmer still has room for improvement which is great news for Chelsea fans, but not so good for the rest of the league.

Palmer’s numbers indicate he’s still having a good season and stats show he’s best midfielder in the league in one area, ranking ahead of Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne.
