Pair Of Kraken Forwards Ended Their Goalless Droughts In Win Over Ducks

Seattle Kraken forwards Shane Wright and Andre Burakovsky ended their goalless droughts in a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Wright was a healthy scratch for three consecutive games before returning to the lineup against the Ducks on Monday. He had gone 13 games without a goal or point, and his game was trending in the wrong direction. His confidence was at an all-time low, and he was struggling to impact the game at any level. The three-game healthy scratch allowed Wright to clear his mind and just play hockey.

HC Dan Bylsma's decision paid off in the first period when the 20-year-old deflected a shot from Oliver Bjorkstrand. Wright had done a great job of battling for position in front of the Ducks goal and got a stick on a long-range shot to open the scoring.

The Ducks answered back with goals from Trevor Zegras in the first period and Frank Vatrano in the second. With the Kraken trailing by a goal, Andre Burakovsky netted his first of the season just 46 seconds into the third period.

The 29-year-old went 21 games without a goal and is hoping this tally is a change in fortune. He's currently on pace for four goals and 34 points which would be the second-lowest point total of his career.

Wright added an assist on Brandon Montour's game-winning goal, after he won an offensive zone draw. Montour has been everything the Kraken could have hoped for when they handed him a seven-year contract in the offseason.

Wright and Burakovsky are two key figures in the Kraken's forward group and need performances like yesterday's more often.
