Packer Humbled By Reception From Sirens Fans

Madison Packer was one of the cornerstone builders of women's professional hockey over the last decade. Without her continued efforts as a leader in the NWHL and PHF, the PWHL would have never gotten off the ground.

After finishing her NCAA career at Wisconsin, Packer embarked on a nine season professional career, all of which was spent in the New York area. That career included eight years with the New York / Metropolitan Riveters, and her final season in the PWHL with New York.

At Wednesday's home opener for the New York Sirens, Packer was recognized with an intermission video paying tribute to her career. It was extra special for Packer to have it occur in New Jersey's Prudential Center, a building she played in as a member of the Metropolitan Riveters.

"I was incredibly humbled and honored to be recognized by the Sirens organization in the Prudential Center at their home opener," said Packer. "It is a city and building that has a lot of deep history and meaning to both myself and women's hockey alike. I am incredibly grateful to the Sirens for their display of appreciation and humility, and hope other organizations around the PWHL will join in their efforts and continue celebrating the alumni and pioneers throughout their markets."

"I am beyond excited to see the success that comes to NY in their new arena and can't wait for the Sirens to bring a championship back to The Rock," she continued.

Packer recently launched a podcast alongside her wife and fellow former professional hockey player Anya Packer titled "Moms Who Puck."
