Owen Sound Forward Commits To Robert Morris University
Owen Sound Attack overage forward Bruce McDonald committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Robert Morris University next season.
The latest OHL player to commit to the NCAA continues the trend of overage players across the OHL committing to schools in the wake of the NCAA rule changes in October.
McDonald, an Ottawa native, spent his first two years in the OHL playing for the Erie after they drafted him in the third round of the 2022 OHL U-18 Priority Selection. The Otters traded him to Owen Sound before the start of this season.
With six goals and 14 assists in 43 games this year, McDonald's 20 points ties him for fifth in scoring on the Attack with Tristan Deslile. He's on pace to finish the season with 31 points.
Unlike many players we've seen commit to NCAA schools this season, McDonald spent his minor hockey years playing AA hockey before joining the Renfrew Wolves U-18 AAA team.
Three years later, the 6-foot-tall forward is a veteran with 175 games of OHL experience and a commitment to play Division 1 hockey next season.
McDonald's story is one of hard work and taking advantage of opportunities when they are presented. This latest opportunity gives him the opportunity to continue his development while getting an education at Robert Morris University.
