Owen’s Fish Camp opens in Lakewood Ranch. Here’s what to know about new seafood spot

Owen’s Fish Camp’s much-anticipated second location in Lakewood Ranch has opened at 6156 University Parkway.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the restaurant shared that they have finally opened their doors, but they’re operating at limited capacity until the restaurant’s backyard area is finished in a few weeks.

The restaurant opened its first location in Sarasota at 516 Burns Court and has since grown in popularity because of its food and ambiance steeped in old Florida relics.

“Owens Fish Camp is an ode to old Florida living. From the looming banyan tree out front, given to Sarasota developer Owen Burns by Thomas Edison, to the tire swing out back, it is a restaurant full of history and Southern hospitality. The casual atmosphere allows guests to relax and enjoy what makes Florida so special,” the brand’s website says.

The restaurant’s menu features everything from hot boiled peanuts to a low-country seafood boil, oysters Rockefeller, and pecan-curated trout with crawfish butter.

Beware that the restaurant does not take reservations, so you might have to wait a bit if you want to eat a bite for yourself.

Owens Fish Camp is one of four new restaurants set to open at Lakewood Ranch’s Center Point at Waterside. Other restaurants include Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Toasted Yolk Cafe.

Owens Fish Camp is expected to open its Lakewood Ranch restaurant in late October or early November. The restaurant is in the Center Point development, south of University Parkway and east of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.
