Yahoo Sports Owen Allard Is Out To Prove Himself In Training Camp
Any NHL training camp is difficult to break into, and it gets even harder when you're a late-round draft choice.
But for Utah HC forward Owen Allard, picked in the fifth round of this year's Upper Deck NHL Draft, it's just another step in his own underdog story.

The Utah prospect had a standout rookie camp which earned him an invitation to full training camp with the veterans Thursday at the Olympic Oval, which he called a "dream come true".
It also made him reflect on his journey, which began in the late rounds of the Ontario Hockey League draft, where he was picked in the seventh round of that go-around.
"It's definitely more intense since you're out there with some older, stronger guys," Allard said. "But it's always going to be hard; you've got to push yourself."
That attitude is what netted the Ontario native three points in three games in the Rookie Face-Off, among other strong performances from teammates Noel Nordh, Julian Lutz, and Maveric Lamoureaux, among others.
Now he's looking to carry that over into a roster spot potentially on opening night against Chicago in a couple of weeks.
"Everyone's really believed in me, even when I didn't," Allard said. "I wouldn't be anywhere without my family, friends, and my coaching staff. It's time to take advantage of the opportunity."
