Overlooked Barcelona youngster could get more playing time in upcoming matches – report
Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre may soon see more playing time, according to reports by journalist Toni Juanmarti in SPORT. Torre, an exciting young talent, has yet to get a true opportunity to showcase his abilities this season.
However, with the busy fixture list, injuries, and player fatigue starting to pile up, it appears his moment is approaching.
So far this season, Torre has only appeared in two matches – one in La Liga and another in the UEFA Champions League. In both games, he played just seven minutes.
His outings came in a league match against Valladolid and a Champions League clash against Monaco, where Barcelona lost 1-2.
More opportunities coming his way?
As it turns out, the upcoming fixtures against Villarreal and Getafe could provide the opportunity he’s been waiting for. Hansi Flick faces several issues with the squad, which is not particularly deep.
Key players like Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres will miss the match against Villarreal. Additionally, players like Pedri and Marc Casado gave everything in the Monaco game, especially after Eric Garcia’s sending-off left the team stretched.
Flick still has some tactical options available, depending on his rotation choices. Garcia could come in as a pivot to provide rest for Pedri or Raphinha, who might shift to midfield.
Then there is also Pau Victor, who has only played 25 minutes this season but could feature on the left wing, pushing Raphinha into a central role.
Even if Torre does not start against Villarreal, he could still feature against Getafe three days later. With minimal rest between games and a demanding schedule ahead, Torre is likely to get more chances, whether as a starter or a substitute in the second half.
Especially in situations where Barcelona are chasing a result, Torre could play a vital role in influencing the game.
