'Outstanding' Liverpool star OFFICIALLY leaves Premier League legends in his dust
Mohamed Salah scored a record-breaking goal on Saturday as Liverpool beat Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Mohamed Salah went into Liverpool's Premier League opener against Ipswich Town knowing he was the joint-record holder for goals on the first day of the season. The Reds's star had eight to his name - level with Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.
On 65, minutes, though, Salah moved clear on his own. The Egyptian took advantage of Dominik Szoboszlai forcing the ball into the box to slot home, putting the Reds 2-0 up and breaking the opening-day record.

It was Diogo Jota who put Liverpool ahead. His goal came just five minutes before Salah's and was the result of an assist from the latter. Trent Alexander-Arnold played him in behind before the no.11 slid it across for Jota to finish.
That was enough for Liverpool to wrap-up the points in Arne Slot's first competitive game as the new head coach. Much like Jurgen Klopp, he looks set to rely on the brilliance of the 'outstanding' Salah - and why wouldn't you?
Mo Salah - record breaker
Salah's first opening-day game for Liverpool produced a goal as he scored against Watford and he'd do the same again a year later, bagging the opener against West Ham United in 2018.
2019 brought another, this time against Norwich City. Salah's most memorable opening day came in 2020, though - a hattrick against Leeds United.
2021 was another goal against Norwich before one against Fulham in 2022. 2023 was the sole year Salah didn't score on the opening day but he's corrected things in 2024.
It's yet another record for Salah, who broke several last season as he became Liverpool's record Premier League goalscorer. He is quite comfortably one of the greatest goalscorers to ever play for the Reds and at this point, one of the greatest to play in England.
