Ottawa and Boston Rested and Ready For Return

PWHL teams will return to the ice tonight when the Boston Fleet host the Ottawa Charge at Lowell's Tsongas Center.

While the league's prospects and a handful of European players competed in international competitions, the rest of the PWHL looked to fine tune and improve in a week of practices.

“We've had an intentional week of practice during the International Break preparing for Ottawa," said Boston head coach Courtney Kessel. "We know what we're capable of, and it's up to us to control the pace with solid defense, smart puck movement, and relentless forechecking. Every shift counts."

Boston struggled in their first two games of the season scoring only twice, but rebounded in their final game before the break picking up their first win of the season, a 4-2 decision over the New York Sirens.

Ottawa got off to a strong start to the season, and will look to carry that momentum beyond the opening break, particularly now that captain Brianne Jenner is rested and ready to return from an early season injury. According to Ottawa's Gabbie Hughes the team is ready to hit the ice for a game after a week of practice.

“We’re coming off a strong week of practices," said Hughes. "We really brought the energy, but I think we could see it in our last practice Sunday that we’re all itching to play. By the drop of the puck, Boston’s not going to know who we are and what just hit them! We’re excited to get out there and do that.”

Puck drop is at 7pm. The game will also serve as Mental Health Awareness Night.
