Oscar Bobb names clear return date to Manchester City action after horror leg injury
Manchester City are now closing in on welcoming back their exceptional Norway international forward Oscar Bobb to first-team activities.
The young Norwegian graduate from Manchester City’s Academy system was expected to build upon his breakthrough campaign in the first-team squad last campaign with a heavy involvement in plans this season.
A pre-season tour showing out in the United States with Pep Guardiola’s first-team set-up thrust Oscar Bobb to the very forefront of the limelight, with goals and assists and all-round exemplary performances wetting the appetite ahead of the Premier League’s opener.
A Community Shield assist against Manchester United to claim the first trophy of the season further strengthened Bobb’s case for a start against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on matchday one of the Premier League season.
However, a horror but accidental leg bone fracture in the week that preceded the top-flight’s opening fixture ruled out Oscar Bobb from any action for over six months having undergone surgery on the injury.
Now speaking during a recent conversation, Bobb has revealed a clear expectation when it comes to a return date to Manchester City action after several months recovering from a horror leg injury.
“I think hopefully the end of January or the start of February I can be in and around the squad,” the 21-year-old told MailSport earlier this month. He continued, “I am getting back to fitness now, slowly but surely starting to run again.”
The Manchester City graduate went on to explain to the newspaper regarding his time away from the squad, “I saw it as more of a pause than a setback.
“I can definitely take inspiration from my pre-season. I was really pleased with the summer that I had and I felt really strong during the US tour and in the Community Shield. I am determined to work even harder now to get back to that form to help the team.”
Continuing on the subject of his recovery, the Norway international starlet explained to MailSport, “It isn’t about getting back as soon as possible, but as strong as possible.
“I am obviously excited to be back on the grass to try and help the team but right now my focus is on getting back even stronger than I was before. I was in really good form and felt ready to help the team, so my aim is to get back to that feeling.”
Pep Guardiola has consistently referred to the youngster when reflecting on Manchester City’s attacking struggles in particular in their last 14 matches across competitions, in which the club have only won two of those meetings.
Addressing the press in early November and discussing the Norwegian, Guardiola admitted, “Oscar [Bobb] was the most important player in pre-season and was injured, and we miss him a lot.”
