Oscar Bobb closes in on Manchester City return after five-month absence
Manchester City are closing in on the return of one of the club’s most-exciting forward talents after a lengthy absence through injury, it has been reported and confirmed.
The Norway international sustained a horror leg bone fracture on the eve of the new Premier League season last August, bringing an end to any hopes of continuing his fine form showcased throughout the club’s pre-season tour of the United States just weeks earlier.
Having undergone surgery on the injury and a lengthy period of recovery and rehabilitation, Oscar Bobb made his return to Manchester City training earlier this month, with a return to match action anticipated for February.
Speaking towards the end of December, Bobb admitted, “I think hopefully the end of January or the start of February I can be in and around the squad. I am getting back to fitness now, slowly but surely starting to run again. I saw it as more of a pause than a setback.”
And that timeframe now appears to have proven accurate, with Oscar Bobb closing in on a return to action for the club in a timely boost for Pep Guardiola and the wider Manchester City squad with mammoth games on the horizon.
According to MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, while Bobb has a ‘slim’ chance of making this weekend’s trip to Arsenal in the Premier League, the FA Cup fourth round tie away to Leyton Orient is seen as ‘more of a guarantee’.
Pep Guardiola has also hinted at the possibility of involvement for Oscar Bobb in this week’s UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge at the Etihad Stadium, although the Manchester City manager did not say whether he could feature on the field.
Similarly, Rodri has become a regular figure within the Manchester City squad, dressing room, and training ground in recent weeks, despite still being a number of months away from a return to match action.
The Spaniard has been outspoken in his belief that he could yet feature for club and country again this season, despite the initial belief around his double-knee injury sustained last September being that he would not return until next season.
