Oregon football vs. Utah: How to watch, TV, streaming, schedules, injury report
Week 8 of the college football season provided plenty of thrills, including the No. 13 Utah Utes' last-second 34-32 win over the USC Trojans. It marked the fourth win in a row against the Trojans for Utah and handed coach Lincoln Riley his first home loss in his time at USC.
The Utes led 28-17 heading into the fourth quarter but USC's touchdown with 1:46 left put the Trojans ahead 32-31. The Utes' offense marched down the field for Cole Becker's game-winning kick as time expired.
“We really took over there for a while, and we got a little soft at the end,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said after the win. “But you know, they’ve got a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback, so they’re going to make some things, and that’s just the way it is. But we’ve got ourselves a pig farmer at quarterback, and we’re proud of that guy, too. What a warrior he is.”
That pig farmer — quarterback Bryson Barnes — had 292 total yards and four touchdowns in the win. All were career highs in the week when Whittingham announced quarterback Cam Rising, who led the Utes to the last two Pac-12 titles, is out for the season.
“Bryson is gonna be Bryson,” Utes running back Ja'Quinden Jackson said. “He’s a competitor. He’s smart. We definitely believe in the guy.”

This week, the No. 13 Utes (6-1, 3-1 Pac-12) head home to host the No. 9 Oregon Ducks (6-1, 3-1). The Ducks rebounded with a 38-24 win over Washington State after their close loss to No. 5 Washington. The balanced Oregon offense (293 yards passing, 248 rushing) used a strong third quarter to push past the Cougars.
“I think we're still trying to grow because we didn't play like we wanted to, coming off of (last) Saturday,” Ducks quarterback Bo Nix said post-game. “A win's a win. I'm never going to complain about winning a game. It's hard to do in college football.”
The Ducks remain in play for a rematch against Washington in the Pac-12 championship game so long as they run the table, starting this week against Utah. The Utes are likely the best defense Oregon will face all season; Oregon's offense is the most balanced Utah will likely face this year.

Utah vs. Oregon: Match-up summary
This week, the two teams meet off of important Pac-12 wins. Utah's statement victory over USC keeps pace at the top of the conference and reminded everyone the Utes should not be ignored. Oregon's two-score win against Washington State was a great bounce-back victory following the tough loss against Washington.
Each side needs the win for the same reason — having a shot at the Pac-12 title game. They both have one conference loss so far in 2023: Oregon to Washington and Utah to Oregon State. Neither side can lose too much ground to the Huskies at the top.
The two teams have played each other 36 times. Utah's won three of the last five matchups but Oregon is 24-12 all-time against the Utes. The Ducks won last year's matchup 20-17 at home but haven't won in Salt Lake City since 2016.
"At times we've played really well on the road," Oregon coach Dan Lanning at practice Wednesday. "At times we could have certainly played better. I still don't think we've played a complete game there."
Whittingham had praise for how the Ducks and Nix have played so far in 2023.
"[They're] very balanced with a really good offense and a really good defense," he said in a press conference Monday. "There is no weakness, they're a complete team. Hands down the number one offense in the league... nearly 50 points per game with a great quarterback and leader, a competitor."
