(Ont-Jewish-School-Shooting)

Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce (LEH'-chay) is calling on everyone to rally behind the Jewish community and stand up against hate.

He and several other provincial cabinet ministers took part in a rally today outside a Jewish school for girls in Toronto, where shots were fired at the building over the weekend.

Toronto police say it's too early to say if the shooting was hate-motivated.

(Cda-Campus-Protests)

Protesters who have set up an encampment at the University of Toronto's downtown campus held up Palestinian flags and huddled under umbrellas during a rally outside the nearby Convocation Hall today.

They remain at the site even after university officials issued a trespass notice ordering demonstrators to remove the encampment by this morning.

U-of-T is now seeking an injunction and asking the court for an expedited case conference.

Protest organizers want the school to disclose public investments in companies profiting from Israel's offensive in Gaza and want U-of-T to cut ties with two specific Israeli academic institutions. (The Canadian Press)
