Only Two QMJHLers To Represent CHL At Top Prospect Game

The CHL has released its roster for the 2024 CHL/USA Hockey Prospects Challenge, and it features just two skaters from the QMJHL.

Moncton centerman Caleb Desnoyers -- who is widely considered as the QMJHL's top prospect in the 2025 NHL Draft class -- is one of the two additions.

He's tallied 10 points (3+7) across seven games to start the 2024-25 season, and was a contributor to the Team Canada team that won gold at the Hlinka-Gretzky last August.

THN's Ryan Kennedy had Desnoyers' pinned in at the 14th pick in his last draft ranking earlier this month.

The other representative from the 'Q' is Blainville's Justin Carbonneau. The right winger has lit up the league with 16 points (7+9) over his first 11 games of the season -- the highest point totals of first time eligibles in the QMJHL.

Carbonneau was ranked 26th by Kennedy.

Both Carbonneau and Desnoyers were profiled in our site's draft notebook write-ups last month.

Boasting a 22-man roster, the QMJHL is hardly represented with the two picks despite boasting a strong class.

There's a number of players who very well could or perhaps should have made the team out of the QMJHL.

It's likely that the slow starts of Chicoutimi's prospects Emile Guite (7 in 11) and Alex Huang (6 in 12) ended up leading to their snubs.

However, some players have started to turn up in place of them such as Armada centerman Mateo Nobert who is at 15 points (5+10) over 11 games, Huskies left winger Bill Zonnon who has 14 points (5+9) over 11 games and Quebec centerman Nathan Quinn who has 15 points (4+11) over 13 games.

Desnoyers and Carbonneau will represent Team CHL against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program on November 26th and 27th, as they look to show their talents to prospective NHL teams and help boost their draft stock.

The two won't be the only QMJHL representatives with the team though as Bathurst head coach and GM Gordie Dwyer will be an assistant coach for the team.
