A somewhat forgotten member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is turning heads with his dedication to the cause in pre-season.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Jesús Vallejo as the player in question.

Defender Vallejo, for his part, is fresh off his latest return to Spain’s capital, after a loan stint away from Carlo Ancelotti’s Real.

The 27-year-old endured a tough time of things last season, managing just three appearances across an injury-ravaged stint with Granada.

And yet, if recent word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Vallejo staying put in Los Blancos’ squad for the campaign ahead is beginning to look increasingly likely.

Owing to both the departure of captain and leader Nacho, and their surprise failure to land Lille sensation Leny Yoro, Ancelotti’s central-defensive ranks are, all of a sudden, looking a touch threadbare.

Vallejo has therefore been widely touted to remain, as something of an emergency option.

And, according to Relevo, this is an opportunity which the Spaniard is eager to take full advantage of.

‘When you ask them about any stories from the first days of the season, the Merengue club highlight the dedication of Jesús Vallejo,’ it is revealed.

‘He has been training at Valdebebas longer than anyone else, even when some fields were under construction.’
