One Barcelona star sprinted to defend Lamine Yamal during Red Star clash
Barcelona star Raphinha was the first to jump to the defence of Lamine Yamal, during the club’s meeting with Red Star Belgrade.
Barca, of course, are fresh off securing another victory on the continent on Wednesday.
Owing to goals on the part of all of Iñigo Martínez, Robert Lewandowski (2), Raphinha and Fermín López, the Blaugrana made it three wins from four in this season’s Champions League.
And, en route to as much, the togetherness in Hansi Flick’s squad was on display once more.
During the first-half in Belgrade, with the score locked at a goal apiece, Lamine Yamal was confronted by a number of the hosts’ stars.
This came after Barcelona failed to put the ball out of play, whilst one of Red Star’s players was grounded with an injury concern.
First on the scene to defend his young teammate, though, was attacking partner-in-crime Raphinha.
Continuing in his role as on-pitch leader in Flick’s ranks, wide-man Raphinha sprinted across the pitch to position himself between Lamine and the opposition, in the process de-escalating the situation.
Still shots of as much can be seen below:
Barcelona played on while a Red Star Belgrade player went down with an injury. After the ball finally went out of play, Belgrade players crowded Lamine Yamal. Raphinha sprinted over and was the first to defend the 17-year-old.
