Is Olympics swimming over? Final medal count, who won, which Americans got gold at Paris

The swimming events at the 2024 Paris Olympics have been thrilling, with veterans like Katie Ledecky cementing their status as one of the best of all time, and newcomers such as France's Leon Marchand and Canada's Summer McIntosh becoming household names.

Ledecky became the most decorated female Olympian from the United States, with 14 medals, including nine gold medals, in her career.

Even though Australia has come on strong in the past decade of Olympic competition, the United States led the medal haul in swimming, taking home 28 medals, including a world-best eight golds. Australia finished just one gold behind Team USA with seven.

While there are still technically events being held in the water, including artistic swimming and the women's and men's 10km open water finals, swimming events are over at the Paris Olympics. There were 35 medal events in swimming at the Games, including 28 individual events. Here's a breakdown of those events.
