Olympics soccer games today: Paris Games slate for Aug. 8

As the 2024 Paris Olympics wind down, so do its tournament-style competitions. The medal round of this Games' men's soccer tournament begins on Thursday as the final four teams remaining compete for gold or bronze.

Thursday kicks off the medal round with the bronze medal match between Morocco and Egypt, the two losers of Monday's semifinal matches. There is plenty on the line for both teams: Neither has ever won an Olympic medal in soccer, and Morocco is still seeking its first medal in these Olympic Games.

Egypt has two fourth-place finishes in soccer in its history of Olympic appearances, but still no medals. Across the field is a Morocco squad that has made it further than any Moroccan team before, as forward Soufiane Rahimi leads the competition in goals scored.
